Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the National Soldiers Home Historic District is the only one of three original Soldiers Home sites to have its Home intact. Established in 1865 by legislation signed by President Abraham Lincoln just after the Civil War. Situated near Miller Park Stadium, many are not aware of the 25 post–Civil War historic architectural buildings, as well as Wood National Cemetery. These six panoramic buildings are presented to show the historic beauty and to raise the awareness.
