As we awoke and saw the beauty of this backyard snow scene, we knew only a panoramic photo could illustrate it. Walking outdoors to take the photo only the crunching footsteps in the snow and the wind chimes could be heard. Listening to the news we learned of others seeing the same blue sky, but emerging to see chaos where their homes and backyards once stood as dozens of tornadoes chain-sawed through states leveling small towns, power, and communications along the way. It reminds us that we have no control of weather, in its beauty or in its destruction.

Wisconsin has many scenic classic farm and barn views, especially as seen during the snow-covered winter. Driving from Milwaukee to Beloit on I-43, over the rolling hills, several views were photographed as the sun was setting on a cold windy day.

These panoramic views show one of my first panoramic photos made of downtown Chicago when I was learning how to make them. I have added to it recent views of the Belmont Harbor and Lake Shore Drive after the traffic stopping snow, and a view of the Milwaukee lakefront showing familiar places.
