After a night of heavy snow we awoke to the beauty of this snow scene as the wind-chimes were heard.

As we awoke and saw the beauty of this backyard snow scene, we knew only a panoramic photo could illustrate it. Walking outdoors to take the photo only the crunching footsteps in the snow and the wind chimes could be heard. Listening to the news we learned of others seeing the same blue sky, but emerging to see chaos where their homes and backyards once stood as dozens of tornadoes chain-sawed through states leveling small towns, power, and communications along the way. It reminds us that we have no control of weather, in its beauty or in its destruction.

Wisconsin has many scenic classic farm and barn views, especially as seen during the snow-covered winter. Driving from Milwaukee to Beloit on I-43, over the rolling hills, several views were photographed as the sun was setting on a cold windy day.

These panoramic views show one of my first panoramic photos made of downtown Chicago when I was learning how to make them. I have added to it recent views of the Belmont Harbor and Lake Shore Drive after the traffic stopping snow, and a view of the Milwaukee lakefront showing familiar places.

The Milwaukee County Zoo is always an interesting Zoo to go to. In the winter it is more limited by the weather, however on this January day it was a good day. There weren’t to many people out, but the outdoor animals were having a good time in the sun. The Penguins were swimming and jumping in the water. The geese and Mallard Ducks were walking on the snow and ice patches, and swimming in the water ponds. Monkeys were running around Monkey Island, and playing with each other. The seals and Polar Bear were doing their thing. I always like to see the Dall Sheep on the rocks and butting heads. The Camels and Zebras were showing off in their calm sort of way. Hope you like the panoramic photos.

After the first freeze and snow, the early morning sunshine sweeps across Mallard Lake at the Wehr Nature Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The air was nippy, the snow and ice were crisp, the geese were gone, and it was bone-chilling quiet in the cold. Everyone sat in their car, with the motor running, as they sipped their hot drink and watched the view. I stood in the cold and took these panoramic views. It only took a moment.
